Samsung TV has no competitor

Samsung Electronics sold 20 million LCD TVs in the world last year amid economic recession. The company announced that it accomplished world¡¯s No.1 for third year in a row by achieving ¡®Triple 20¡¯, including 20% market share in terms of LCD TV quantity, 20million units of LCD TV sales and $20 billion in total TV sales.
According to ¡®2008 Major TV Makers¡¯ Sales Status¡¯ announced by Display Search, in LCD TV area that has the largest market scale, Samsung Electronics sold 20.98 million units, taking 20% market share. It became first global maker to exceed 20million units of sales. The maker accomplished LCD TV sales goal of 18 million units, and surpassed revised goal of 20 million units of sales in the end of August. Sony took No.2 spot with 14.75 million units (14%), and was followed by LGE 10.69million units (10.2%), Sharp 9.6 million units (9.1%) and Philips 8.11 million units (7.7%).
Sony revised down sales goal from 20 million units of LCD TV sales to 17 million units in July of last year, and revised down further to 16 million units in October, but failed to reach target. Sharp aimed to sell 11 million units, but couldn¡¯t be over 10 million. Among global makers, only Samsung surpassed target.
Samsung Electronics exceeded 20% level for both sales volume and revenue for the first time, taking 23.1% in sales revenue. In terms of revenue, Samsung was 23.1%, Sony 17.8%, Sharp 10.1%, LGE 9.5% and Philips 7.3%. Samsung Electronics gained momentum in selling LCD TV, achieving $24.4 billion in total TV sales to achieved great record of exceeding $20billion mark. As a result, it took No.1 with 21.9% market share, and followed by Sony $14.6 billion, LGE $12.5billion (11.2%), Panasonic $9.1billion (8.2%) and Sharp $8.3billion (7.4%). The gap between Samsung Electronics and Sony was $9.8billion (8.8%).
Samsung Electronics listed screen quality and improved design as secrets for being marker leader. Last year, Samsung applied ¡®Crystal black panel¡¯ and Speed backlight¡¯ to LCD TV to display deep black color and vivid screen quality, and adopted ¡®Ultra daylight¡¯ to PDP TV for clear screen without reflecting light to display ¡®mega contrast ratio¡¯. The maker completed ¡®Crystal Rose¡¯ design by combining transparent crystal with black and red color in design area. Yoon, Bu-keun, president of the company said, ¡°We will continue to show new TV products desired by customers to challenge No.1 spot for a fourth year in a row.¡±
