According to the related industry on 26th, Samsung Electronics (CEO Yoon Jong-Yong) will commercialize `BD Live` technology that provides the information of the movies viewed in Blu-ray through the websites of the film productions. BD Live is the technology that enables the download of various information by connecting to the websites of film productions as soon as Blu-ray disks are inserted to the player. Film productions can expect the other businesses including contents sales through Internet as well as the title sales and it is expected that Blu-ray demand would increase. The company is planning to start the BD Live service at the end of this year and discussing the development of services with Hollywood film productions of Blu-ray, such as Sony, Walt Disney, 20th Century Fox, Warner Bros and Paramount. The company is also speeding up the development of the terminal that supports BD Live function for Blu-ray disk drive. An official of Samsung Electronics said, "BD Live will provide a new online service environment for the next generation storage media market. It will also activate Blu-ray market, which is on its early stage." The company has introduced the first Blu-ray player in global market and announced that this year would be the first year for activation of Blu-ray market with the 2nd generation product.
